But soon the new path toward higher progress, into which it has been called by the grace of our fathers of the land, will be truly entered.
This cannot happen more worthily than with the memory of the man without whose help this school would not exist. During his life, people were accustomed to calling him only Father Meyer. And a father he truly was: to his house, to his native city, and to many charitable and public-spirited works and institutions. How he became who he was, what encouraged and what hindered him, how others influenced him and how he influenced others and himself, how he viewed and solved the task of his existence: all this is told here faithfully and openly, based on the oral and written expressions of the deceased as well as those of his closest relatives and friends.
