That every thing has two sides from which it can be viewed, and which must also be viewed if our judgment is not to be one-sided, and therefore untrue, and consequently unjust, is a truth that has been preached by all teachers of life-wisdom and worldly prudence from the times of Sirach author of the biblical Book of Ecclesiasticus to the times of Epictetus Greek Stoic philosopher, and from the times of Epictetus to the times of Knigge Adolph Freiherr Knigge, author of "On Human Relations" and Campe Joachim Heinrich Campe, German author and educationalist; yet it is a truth that is just as rarely considered and applied in the everyday judgments of men as it is frequently and daily on their lips.
