Tarquinus Superbus, the seventh and last King of the Romans, goes to venerate the tombs of the Kings his predecessors. While his pages celebrate the power of their master with a minuet, the six Roman Kings descend from their urns at the invitation of Tarquinus and perform a solemn dance. At the end of the dance, as Tarquinus dances a solo, Brutus suddenly appears with some Roman Senators. Terrified by their appearance, the Kings retreat. Brutus then forces them to serve his glory, obliging them to form his statue on horseback from some stones found there. While this trophy is raised, the Roman Senators perform a joyful dance, which Brutus concludes with a solo dance.
