I.C.T. Your Illustrious Highness may kindly assist in the most prosperously begun course of singular piety and most excellent virtues, and keep you immune from all evils. If He does this (as we have no cause to doubt at all), the statue of Orpheus will sweat much.
I myself, who appear unworthy in your most serene sight, do not have at this time the means to declare my joy, most submissive zeal, respect, and veneration for I.C.T. I offer these two Orations, prompted by some who were auditors, and consecrate them dedicated to your most Illustrious Name: which I most submissively beg that you deign to accept with a serene countenance, just as you have done toward many others. I.C.T. will know from them how eagerly this Academy of ours receives You as Lord and most clement prince.
They were, however, pronounced in solemn manner in praise of the Divine MAURICE, the Great paternal uncle, and of CHRISTIAN I, the most beloved parent of those original: "τῶν μακαρίτων"
