And that the Lord Christ accomplished all this for our sake, he testifies with his heartfelt resurrection and ascension. And he now sits at the right hand of God his heavenly Father, with God the Father and the Holy Spirit, of equal power, might, and glory, and is with GOD the Father our sole Mediator and advocate. 1 Timothy 2. 1 John 2. And he will come on the Last Day to judge the living and the dead, and will lead and receive the believers into the joy and glory of eternal life, but will condemn and reject the unbelievers to eternal damnation. Right faith in Christ.
To believe all this from the heart, and to place one's comfort and confidence entirely upon it, is called believing in Christ. Or, for the sake of the simple, to put it more briefly: To believe in Christ means to hold, with heartfelt trust and confidence, that Christ is the true God and man, our true and righteous Savior, Redeemer, Mediator, and future Judge, who, through his bitter suffering and merit, has redeemed us from sin, devil, death, and Hell, and has acquired and earned for us the forgiveness of sin, God's grace and mercy, righteousness, and eternal life with God.
