And Paul: Since you have known the holy Scripture from childhood, it can instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
Therefore, if we wish to come to the true, saving faith in Christ and be saved, we must use the aforementioned means. That is, we must hear the word of God when it is preached to us, read and study the holy Divine Scripture, make use of the most worthy Sacraments for the confirmation of our faith, and diligently call upon and pray to God for His Holy Spirit and grace.
Regarding other reasons why we should gladly hear, read, and learn the word of God and the holy Divine Scripture, and that we can never understand or perceive the word of God or the holy Scripture by our own strength, one may read my little book on Marriage, from F 4 to G 2.
And whoever wants to be informed further from the word of God about our human inability in these high Divine matters, let him read my printed booklet that I wrote against the Papists' Meritum congrui merit of congruence.
