For the ordinary Judges, or Officers of the Kingdom, are numbered at FOUR: the Palatine, the Judge of the Court, the Secretary, and the Chancellor, or his Lieutenant in his absence. Moreover, the principal Cities, together with those which Turkish rabies has invaded, are similarly counted as FOUR: Esztergom, Buda, and Székesfehérvár original: "Alba Regalis". Nay, the very Names of the Cities desire to be equated to the FOURFOLD, and by their Tetrad, they predict that the Kingdom of Hungary is to be restored in its entirety to FERDINAND THE FOURTH, and they assign to him and his Successors the seats due for residing. The Tetrapolis of Esztergom, like Syracuse, represents to FERDINAND THE FOURTH in the FOUR cities it contains what it does not provide by name. But also the FOUR principal Rivers—the Danube, the Sava, the Drava, and the Tisza—applaud their FERDINAND with their FOURFOLD nature, and promise an abundance of all Goods in the Kingdom of Hungary: FOURFOLD grain, wine, metal, and salt; herds, game, fish, and poultry; and happiness, life, victory, and peace. Finally, that most celebrated Custom and Solemnity in the Coronation of the Kings of Hungary, by which the King, after receiving the Diadem, is accustomed to brandish the Sword, or scimitar, FOUR times toward the FOUR quarters of the World in the manner of a cross, seems to offer a far more happy Omen to FERDINAND THE FOURTH. For what else can this Ceremonial FOURFOLD seem to indicate than that FERDINAND THE FOURTH will extend his Kingdoms far and wide into the FOUR Quarters of the World? For the FOURFOLD number and the Ferdinandian FOUR-PART-SET combine only most auspiciously; and they confer Kingdoms upon FERDINAND THE FOURTH.
