DEDICATORY EPISTLE.

You will open your Paternal bosom to Vertumnus, arriving from afar, and hitherto a stranger, and in this Jubilee Year, in which, according to sacred prophecy, Everyone shall return to his original Family, you will count him all the more kindly among your Family members; the more confidently he consecrates himself, as much as he is, as a New Year's Gift original: "Strena Jannuaria" to You, most devotedly: and, in my place, with a filial Vow of happy New Year's Auspices, and of a most prosperous longevity, for the honor of the Province and the advancement of our Mariana Religion Piarist Order, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, after the Jubilee of Priesthood is completed safely, God willing, and the intervals of many Olympiads thereafter, he most reverently vows and prays from the heart for an interminable Jubilee of most fortunate eternity, plainly according to my opinion; who am under the Date of Rastatt in the Margraviate of Baden, Kalends of January 1725.
