and that the Spirit of Christ in his love and power shall renew his mind and strengthen his weak faith: also that he, in his Divine hunger, shall obtain the flesh and blood of Christ as his food and drink (in the desire of his soul, which continually hungers and thirsts for it): and with the thirst of his soul, from the sweet fountain of Jesus Christ, he shall drink the water of eternal life, according to the promise and the truthful, strong assurance of Christ.
He shall also perfectly imagine for himself the great love of God: that God does not desire the death of the sinner, but desires that he repent and live: and how Christ calls poor sinners so kindly to Him, how He wishes to quicken them: and that God has sent His Son into the world to seek and to save that which is lost (as the poor, penitent, returning sinner): and how, for the sinner’s sake, He gave His life into death, and died for him (in our assumed humanity).
