The First Step to Conversion

A Short Form of Confession

before the eyes of God.

Every person may form and increase this confession (according to his necessity), as the Holy Spirit shall teach him. I will only give a short instruction.

O Great, incomprehensible Holy God, Lord of all being, You who (in Christ Jesus, out of great love for us) have revealed Yourself with Your holy being in our humanity. I, a poor, unworthy, sinful human, come before Your revealed countenance in the humanity of Jesus Christ (even though I am not worthy to lift my eyes to You) and supplicate before You, and confess to You that I have become faithless and a vow-breaker regarding Your great love and grace that You have bestowed upon us: I have abandoned the covenant (that You made with me out of pure grace through baptism,
