not already lie in hell: I surrender myself (with my whole will, mind, and intent) to Your grace, and flee to Your mercy. I cry to You (through Your death) out of the small spark of my life (surrounded by death and hell, which open their jaws against me and want to devour me entirely into death:) You who have promised that You would not extinguish the smoldering wick: now I have no other way to You than Your suffering and dying: since You have made our death into life through Your humanity, and broken the chains of death, so do I sink (the desire of my soul) into Your death, into the open, broken gates of Your death.
