touch and partake of the Covenant of Christ, he must also himself be favorable [or acceptable] to the Covenant and Testament: If the sheep are to hear the voice of Christi Christ from his mouth and follow him, then the Spirit and the power of Christi must also be in his voice, otherwise he is but a hireling, and the sheep do not hear the voice of Christi (but only human words) from his mouth.
8. Likewise, the listeners shall also be directed toward God in sincere repentance, that they may also hear the voice of Christi: not only with outward ears, but with ears of divine power: that the power of the teacher and listener may meet one another, and the Spirit of Christi work between them both, that the heart may thus experience the doctrine, and good fruits grow thereon.
9. A teacher shall not teach for the sake of the reward, but he shall know and well consider that he stands there in the place of Christi, that Christus (if he is a true shepherd) wants to teach through him.
