A GOVERNESS, A BARBER,
A PEASANT, A PEASANT WOMAN, A
TAILOR, A BLACKSMITH, A
LACKEY, A PROCURATOR, A
CATERER, retinue of Valets & Peasants.
CHOIR, who surrounds & salutes Sancho.
Let us sing, let us sing the welcome
Of our new Governor.
That each one salutes him in turn;
Honor, honor, honor
To our new Governor.
SANCHO.
I am happy, if this continues.
THE CHOIR.
My Lord, listen to us,
We have recourse to you.
SANCHO.
My children, explain yourselves.
THE BARBER shouts in his ear.
You will find a position for my family.
THE PEASANT pulls him by the sleeve.
You will marry our daughter.
THE PEASANT WOMAN.
My cousin is in prison.
THE BLACKSMITH.
I will shoe the donkey.
THE GOVERNESS.
Take me as Governess.
THE PEASANT WOMAN.
Protect an innocent one.
THE TAILOR.
I will have the honor
Of being Tailor.
