A detailed woodcut ornament features a central winged cherub head or a grotesque mask. The central figure is framed by symmetrical, intricate scrollwork, volutes, and stylized floral or foliate motifs characteristic of late 16th-century Renaissance typography.
The Academia Julia was the University of Helmstedt, a major Protestant university in the Duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, active from 1576 to 1810.
