I came afterward to the monuments of talent with which most learned men have commented upon the interpretation of sacred letters themselves, to be established rightly and happily. The difference and variety of these are great. Some have applied their effort to providing a universal hermeneutica sacra sacred hermeneutics/interpretation: to explaining its precepts and illustrating them with examples, a labor which some of the older Christian doctors have undertaken; but the much more recent ones have surpassed the industry of those men.
