If it is true, which no one ignores, that GOD, ALMIGHTY AND MOST GOOD original: "DEVM T. O. M." (Deo Optimo Maximo), has been present, as it were, to our fathers from the very first beginnings of the Republic; what must be believed about THOSE, BY WHOSE help Liberty and Peace were restored to us: WHO had the Republic and Governors as leaders: TO WHOM it was given to despise the most serious dangers, indeed death itself, with an intrepid mind? Either we are blind, Citizens, or let us gratefully acknowledge that THEY were sent divinely to bring us aid and assistance.
