A circular copperplate engraving depicts a man in a contemplative pose, seated on a stone in a pastoral landscape. He looks toward grazing animals and trees on the left. In the foreground, near his feet, lie several bones, including a skull and a rib cage. An English inscription at the bottom of the circle reads: "The World was made to be inhabited by Beasts, but studied and contemplated by Man." The signatures "Zink f." and "I. scp." appear at the bottom left and right edges of the circle.
