without these, it would remain very deficient, a naked description, and a glossary, which would contribute little to my purpose and the utility that I flatter myself I might achieve through my work. As concerns the domestic animals and those I am able to obtain, these will all be dissected by me personally and examined as accurately as possible without sparing costs. However, regarding those which I will not be able to obtain, and thus will not be able to examine myself, I shall collect everything that has been written about them anatomically and physiologically, or which is communicated to me through the kindness of others, and I will endeavor to bring this into the best possible order. I therefore request all friends of natural science who approve of my undertaking to kindly support me with their observations and to give me the opportunity to obtain even foreign animals that are not native to our climate.
