which cannot be compared with the bone of any other animal. I have also observed the processus ulnaris ulnar process in other mammals that use very robust anterior extremities, especially in the lion; yet in the mole, proportion being preserved, it is the largest. The body of the ulna is broad, armed with a spine similar to the spine of the sternum. The palm of the hand is twisted outward, so that it walks not on the sole, but on the radial part of the hand. The width of the hand is increased by a bone that can be compared with the bone of the spurious digit of the dog, lion, and other beasts, although it has a shape different from them. By its shape, it is called falciforme sickle-shaped (1), by the authority of the most celebrated Blumenbach. A rudiment of this bone is also observed in the tibial part of the posterior foot; with the posterior feet, the mole walks on the sole, just like a bear (1).
