Major Regional Labels:
A hand-colored copperplate engraving of a map titled "BELGII PARS MERIDIONALIS," representing the southern part of the Low Countries (modern Belgium, Luxembourg, and portions of Northern France and Western Germany). The map is oriented with North at the top. In the upper-left corner, a large allegorical cartouche contains the map's title and publication credits. The cartouche is decorated with several figures: a seated personification of the region holding a shield with the Dutch lion, surrounded by cherubs and other figures. In the lower-right corner, a smaller cartouche displays two linear scales (German miles and French miles), accompanied by pastoral figures including a man and children. The map itself is densely labeled with hundreds of place names for cities, towns, and villages. Provincial boundaries are delineated with hand-colored outlines. Major regions visible include Flanders, Brabant, Hainaut, Namur, Limburg, and Luxembourg. Natural features such as rivers (e.g., the Meuse and Rhine) and forested areas are also depicted.
