The subjects of controversies are two: the boundary and the place. Each one of these contains whatever is disputed from the field. But since individual controversies also have divided conditions so that they are to be named according to how they are perceived, there are 15 kinds of controversies: concerning the position of boundaries, concerning rigor, concerning the boundary, concerning the place, concerning a house being claimed, concerning possession, concerning alluvion, concerning the law of territory, concerning surplus fields, concerning public [lands], concerning left-over and excluded places, concerning sacred and religious places, concerning water and the access of rainwater, and concerning paths, [and] concerning the position of boundaries.
