Preceptors.
He had as a preceptor in the law of Moses that distinguished Pharisee Gamaliel, at whose feet he was nurtured, Acts 22. But how great the authority of Gamaliel was is clear from the 5th chapter of Acts. Jerome adds that he was sent to Jerusalem by his parents for the sake of studies, and chose this man as his preceptor. In Christianity, he had the Son of God himself as his preceptor, Acts 9. Hence to the Galatians in the 1st chapter, he boldly professes that he was taught neither by man, nor through man: therefore he was truly theodidaktos taught by God, whence it also happened that he did not remain long with the Apostles in Jerusalem, lest he seem to have learned anything from man, to the Galatians 2. All of which contribute to the majesty of his writings.
