It was fitting, Jesus, that rising from the dead, glorious and immortal, not only for the consolation of your disciples to whom your death had brought much pain and sorrow, but also for the commendation of the divine justice, to whom it pertains to exalt those who have humbled themselves for God. It was fitting, moreover, for the strengthening of our faith, which is much confirmed by your resurrection. Indeed, if you, good Jesus, had not risen from the dead, as the Apostle argues, our preaching would have been rendered vain, and our faith would be empty 1 Corinthians 15:14. It also pertains to the raising of our hope, since we do not doubt that we, as members of your body, will rise again when you, our head and light, rise again.
