we who are sluggish in a thousand defects? For who can boast that he has a pure heart? Indeed, no one can know whether he is worthy of hatred or love. Let us therefore have before the eyes of our heart that horrible thing which the angelic trumpet will cry out: "Arise, you dead, come to judgment." And what then shall we answer? Let us already precogitate the Judge.
What is a proposition? The answer is: the association of the joy of the elect. Because, as has already been said, they are opposed to those to be damned. How many things accrue to a preposition? One only: namely, case. Not the case of sin, but the case of humility. And therefore there will be a double case in them. The first is the accusative, by which they will accuse the fatherland of this age of all wickedness, just as it is written: "The whole world is seated in the wicked one." And from this they will humble themselves before God, giving thanks because they were kept pure from the wickedness of this age as long as they lived here. The second case is the ablative, by which they will congratulate him for that hour in which they were taken away
