On account of which, by the predecessor of happy memory, Pope Eugenius IV, it was declared that such concessions, privileges, and indults granted to Jews living under any lords whatsoever, even in lands directly or indirectly subject to us and the Roman Church, as is premised, operate only to the limits of the common law, and extend no further by any pact, nor suffer or receive any interpretation other than that of the law itself.
