The text on the cover and spine labels is heavily faded, worn, and mostly illegible due to age and abrasion.
A woodcut depicts the front cover and spine of a historical book or manuscript, likely from the 16th or 17th century. The binding is a quarter-binding style where dark reddish-brown leather covers the spine and a portion of the boards, while the remainder of the boards is exposed wood, likely oak. Two decorative brass or bronze clasp plates are attached to the fore-edge of the wooden board, though the leather straps are missing. The spine features five raised bands, creating compartments. Two paper labels are pasted onto the spine in the second and fifth compartments from the top, featuring faded handwriting. There is also faint, light-colored handwritten text on the leather portion of the front board.
