O God, invincible author of power, and King of insurmountable empire, and ever-magnificent victor, who repress the forces of the adversary's dominion, who overcome the ferocity of the roaring enemy, who powerfully defeat hostile wickedness, we, trembling and suppliant, beseech and ask you, Lord, that you would look favorably upon this creature of salt and water, and graciously illuminate and sanctify <✠> it with the dew of your piety, so that wherever it is sprinkled, through the invocation of your holy name, every infestation of the unclean spirit may be cast out, the terror of the poisonous serpent may be driven far away, and the presence of the Holy Spirit may deign to be everywhere with us who seek your mercy. ¶ R. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the same Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen. ¶ R.
