¶ The following Gospel is read, and the godparents place their right hands upon the child; the child is named, and the priest says:

And the priest also lays his hand upon the child and reads:
At that time, little children were brought to Jesus that He might lay His hands upon them and pray; but the disciples rebuked them. Jesus, however, said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." And when He had laid His hands upon them, He departed from there.
Then they shall remove their hands, and the godparents, at the priest's command, shall say: ¶ Our Father. Hail Mary. I believe in God. And he shall tell the godparents to instruct the child to pray when he reaches the proper age: ¶ Our Father, Hail Mary, I believe. Then the priest shall publicly catechize him with these words:
May it not be hidden from you, Satan, that punishments threaten you, torments threaten you, the day of judgment threatens you, the day of punishment, the day that is to come like a burning furnace, in which eternal destruction will come upon you and all your angels.
