Quaestiones Evangeliorum de tempore et de sanctis

¶ On the feast of Blessed Sylvester the Gospel is: A man traveling, etc. Matthew 25. Regarding this, the following questions can be disputed:

¶ On the feast of Blessed Vincent the Martyr the Gospel is: Unless the grain, etc. John 12. Regarding this, the following questions can be disputed: ¶ First: Whether anyone can offer themselves to martyrdom without perfect charity. ¶ Second: Whether Blessed Vincent served Christ so strongly, fighting for his faith even unto death, that he merited to be honored by the heavenly Father with a special crown of glory which is called an aureole a crown of merit for special excellence.

¶ On the conversion of Saint Paul is the Gospel: Simon Peter said to Jesus, etc. Matthew 19. Regarding this, the following questions can be disputed: ¶ First: Whether Paul is to sit with Christ to judge. ¶ Second: Whether judicial power corresponds fittingly to voluntary poverty.

¶ Third: Whether the promise that follows in the Gospel is fitting, which he says, "Everyone, etc." ¶ Fourth: Whether the conversion of Paul was miraculous.

¶ On the feast of the Purification of Mary is the Gospel: At that time, After the days of purification were fulfilled, etc. Luke 2. Regarding this, the following questions can be disputed: ¶ First: Whether Christ

¶ First: Whether that confession of Peter concerning Christ, "You are the son of the living God," was first heard from the mouth of Peter. ¶ Second: Whether Christ fittingly rewarded that confession of Peter by saying, "You are Peter, etc." ¶ Third: Whether the seat of Peter can be transferred from Rome to another province.

¶ On the feast of Matthew the Apostle is the Gospel: I confess to you, Father of heaven, etc. Matthew 11. Regarding this, the following questions can be disputed: ¶ First: Whether Blessed Matthew, through the virtue of humility, merited that it be revealed or shown by the heavenly Father that he was to be assumed to the apostolate. ¶ Second: Whether Matthew knew the Son of God. ¶ Third: Whether the better person should always be chosen for ecclesiastical dignity.

¶ On the feast of Blessed Thomas Aquinas, some read the Gospel: You are the salt of the earth, etc. Matthew 5. Regarding this, the following questions can be disputed: ¶ First: Whether an aureole is owed to doctors in the kingdom of heaven. ¶ Second: Whether preachers or doctors are held to do what is said from the present Gospel.
