For although we are far separated by regions, the name of Christianity, when it is not abused, ought to be a suitable bond to unite those who seem the most divided. Above all, however, we pray that they do not bring to our work a prejudice of disgust simply because we have been rejected and trampled upon. For there are very many who think it of no interest to inquire about those whose name is as infamous as a corpse. But we implore all religious men, and those who have some shred of humanity left, to remember that David, when he prays well for those who judge moderately concerning the afflicted in their adversities, prays conversely against those who Psalm 41:1 assent to the condemnation of the innocent.
