This library is built in the open.
If you spot an error, have a suggestion, or just want to say hello — we’d love to hear from you.

And if your ship can finally never be submerged,
As the Sophists are accustomed to boast and affirm,
And your supporters: why I ask is there need for such
Tumult? Why do you fear opposing winds and swelling waves?
No one will be able to overturn the truth,
And the commands of the highest Thunderer God will stand eternally,
Nor will anyone infringe upon things consistent with the straight and divine word,
So that you could snore securely for a long time,
And despise our insults and all books,
Provided they contain nothing true and firm, but
Absurd trifles, of a blind and delirious heart.
(For thus you defame ours, and traduce them in the world.)
We do not forbid anyone from your inventions, and most vain writings of your people,
Full of insults.
They are offered publicly, we allow them to be sold and read:
For we do not fear for our doctrine and cause,
Nor do we dread the examinations of the clear light.
For no one approves and retains false lies,
Unless he is cast out, and to be thrust into eternal fire.
Anyone of sound mind, and not foolish and insane,
Easily knows how to discern true things from false:
And they recognize the hisses and the voice of the shepherd's lamb.
O! Sun and day, most acceptable gifts to the sane,
How do the proven not flee from you in writings and deeds?
How on the contrary do thieves and all the wicked flee?
We bear yours, but you do not bear ours, Cerberus.
What is the reason? You hate the light, we do not hate it ourselves.
