Definition and Division are made from Predicables and Predicaments.

Predicaments are certain fixed orders of words, which are placed under each Predicament as if under their own proper genus, to which they belong by their nature.

Predicables, however, distinguish the confused and mixed words of each Predicament, while showing which word is more common, which is wider, or narrower.

Both, however, both predicables and predicaments, are so called because they are predicated and said concerning the words being explained, as we shall immediately recognize.

The Predicables are five in number: Genus, Species, Differentia, Proprium, Accidens.
