we divide the human body into head, chest, arms, hands, feet, and other members of that kind. And Rhetoric is distributed into invention, disposition, elocution, memory, and pronunciation; for these are the parts of Rhetoric. How useful and necessary the science of Predicaments and Predicables is to him who wishes to rightly partition or divide something, appears even to the blind from these things which have now been said.

We taught above that a simple question is treated by the first two parts of Dialectic: namely, Definition and Division. And this indeed is true and primary in the rationale of teaching correctly, which is called μέθοδος method in Greek, so that you may first define what the thing you have undertaken to teach is: then you may partition it into its species or parts, from which it is composed.
