Let the question proposed to us be about Faith, in the manner in which Faith is accepted in the sacred scriptures.

The definition of Faith may be this: Faith is a certain trust in the mercy of God, which has been both promised and granted to us in Christ the son of God.

Division of Faith into species: Faith consists partly in promises of corporal things, partly of spiritual ones. And, Faith can be called one thing spiritual, another historical.

The efficient cause of Faith, the Word and the Holy Spirit in the first place.

The effects of Faith, to justify believers: to pacify troubled consciences: to serve God and neighbor: finally, eternal life.

Adjuncts of Faith, the Cross and the persecution of the faithful: perseverance in adverse things, and if there are any others of the same kind.
