Look to the final day by night and by day.
Do not mingle with him whom you see being reviled by good men.
Strive to harm no one by what you do, or say, or think.

We pray for ourselves, and otherwise we mock; for there are many things in us for which we mock others.
Let a psalm be in your mouth in your prayers; for God, being named, puts the demons to flight.
Let prayer be done with sobriety, so that we do not ask of God the things that are not pleasing to him.
Always remember God, and let your mind be heaven.
Curb the eye; for as you see, it wanders.
Spare the tongue; for it often brings forth things that would be better hidden.
Cultivate the mind with meditation on the law; for it extirpates evil thoughts when it is practiced continuously.
Hide your virtues, but strive to acquire many witnesses for your life.
Hate the pleasures of the flesh, which make the soul with the body [unclean]; not only give the flesh what it needs to take, not what it wants.
Do not love living daintily; for it brings about friendship with life, but enmity towards God is born from each.
Turn away from joy in this life; for it is slippery and trips up those who are exulting.
If you have wealth, distribute it; but if you do not have it, do not gather it.
Consider fasting as a sharp weapon, prayer as a wall, and tears as a bath.
† Past passive imperative of the verb mnaomai to remember.

Foster the poor; for they reconcile the judge to us.
Relieve the needs of the saints; for through them, communion with God comes to you.
Frequent the church as heaven; and do not say or think anything earthly in it.
Consider sufficiency of things as necessary; but allow God the care for these things.
Weaken the flesh with good labors, but take care not to crush it completely.
