Rejoice in the company of the holy: for through them, God is revealed to you.
Distinguish the truly holy by their works: for every tree is known by its fruit.
Always look to them in contemplation; observe their particular gaze and demeanor: for both are profitable.
Practice innocence in the heart and purity in the body: for these two make of you a temple for God.
* Read κτίσαντες those who created/founded, or κτίσαντες possessing/holding/occupying.
Guard the temple in such a way, as one who is about to be judged by the God who created it, and who seeks to keep your own image—which is His image—pure.
The conversations of worldly life separate the mind from God: for this reason, do not even speak with them, and turn away from those who speak.
When you are reviled, consider whether you have done anything worthy of revilement. If you have done nothing, consider the revilement as passing smoke.
In all matters where you are wronged, flee to patience: and the harm will be turned back upon those who do the wrong.
When you see wealth, or glory, or worldly power, consider their perishability, and you will escape the snare.
Endure tribulations: for within them, virtues grow and are nourished, just as roses among thorns.
Do not consider anything to be on a par with the dignity of virtue: for it is an image of God, and therefore, just as He is, it is immutable.
(Note)
Lament the sinner who prospers: for the sword of justice hangs over him. Consider laziness to be the mother of evils. For it plunders the good things you already possess, and does not allow you to acquire what you do not yet possess.
When someone does wicked things and feels no shame for them, they exasperate the wound, and the fall begins to lead to despair.
As often as you are despondent, consider how many good things are prepared for the faithful, and the fruit of the Spirit will easily follow for you.
It behooves the faithful to be humbled before all: for to be humbled only before some argues that one possesses a feigned humility.
Do not prefer anything to the love of your neighbor, except for those things where love for God is not rightly perceived.
Do not support anyone against the law of God, nor aid them: for it makes God unworthy if one prefers another to Him.
Do not advocate for the wicked: for you provoke them toward wickedness, and you are yourself defiled by the communion of the matter.
Admonish the one who sins, but do not accuse the one who has struck: for the one is the mark of a slanderer, the other of one who corrects.
