Of Liberality.
I. The works.
Liberality is the elective disposal of money for praiseworthy ends and with abundance, and the spending of money for necessary things, and the being helpful in various situations, and the not taking from where one ought not. The liberal person is also clean regarding clothing and housing, and is an organizer of superfluous and beautiful things, and of things that provide a pleasant way of life without regard for profit, and is a nurturer of animals that possess some beauty or wonder.
II. How one is liberal.
III. The things following.
There follow after liberality: suppleness of character, approachability, philanthropy, and being merciful, and fond of friends, and hospitable, and fond of the beautiful.
