Expositio vera harum imaginum olim Nurenbergae repertarum ex fundatissimo verae magiae Vaticinio deducta

Before these things happen, however, all those who were predicted, together with their arrogant and proud contentions, will pass away in envy and pride; for under the shadow of Christ and the blessed Apostles Peter and Paul, they all turn aside from the path of truth. After the end of all of them, no Pontiff of malice, nor any heretic of Papistic profession, will be found any longer, but one scourge will tame both parties, insofar as they all seek their own glory and honor. For the roots which, in the passage of time, rise up again and always in evil, so despise the true seed that they do not trust it.

Therefore, I wish to admonish all of you readers that, while reading these things, you weigh them very well and measure them with a just balance, which is contained in these expositions: favoring no one beyond equity, but judging and considering with equality how cunningly Satan introduces his seed everywhere, so that even the common people do not perceive it, or do so only with difficulty. For not everyone who cries with a loud voice "Lord, Lord" announces Christ and the word of God, and runs, etc., but the one who is like John in the desert, and the Apostles, he is the one. Others have turned far away from these, and are very distant from their purpose.
