Iehouah Jehovah, the God Adonai Lord, who rules through himself and in himself. Isaiah 9, 40, 42; Zechariah 3, 6.
FOURTEENTH INSTITUTION.
Christ according to the flesh, because he is the Son of David, and it was necessary for him to be like his brothers in all things except sin: Romans 8; Hebrews 2, 3, 5. Therefore he grew in age and grace before God and men; at the end of the age, the flesh began, and all things were given to the flesh according to the condition and nature of the flesh, as in John 5 and Luke 2. Christ distinguishes between what the Father gave to the Son of God, the Logos Word, without measure, and what he gave to the son of man.
FIFTEENTH INSTITUTION.
The Word of God, before God according to the Sanctifying Spirit, or insofar as he is the Son of God, only-begotten of the Father, is the firstborn of every creature. He was with the Father, cooperating before all things, subsisting equally in the form of God: Philippians 2. But the flesh began at the end of the age. It was with God only by foreknowledge and preordination, a lamb slain from the origin of the world in shadow and figures, Revelation 13.
SIXTEENTH INSTITUTION.
The restoration of those things which are in heaven is the confirmation of the holy angels in their state and glory of perfection through Christ, so that they cannot fall. Then, the renewal of the heavens and stars by fire: Colossians 1, 2; 2 Peter 2, 3. The restoration of those things which are on earth is the reconciliation of the elect with God through Christ's satisfaction. Then, the renewal of the earth and sea by the fire of the last day. For thus the Apostle, Ephesians 1 and Colossians 1, 2, reports that all things in the heavens and on the earth were made in Christ, first as to the visible heavens and stars and the earth and men, and second as to the invisible things: thrones and heavenly dominions.
