Is it decorous to offer those same members to be touched by the hands of others? By no means, for those things which it is modest to hide from the sight of eyes, it is much less appropriate to expose to the touch of another.

Is it a matter of civility to delay urination? To relieve urine in private is modest; but to delay it is destructive to health.
LIX.
Is it decorous to hold back a fart by clenching the buttocks? It is an argument of rusticness and immodesty to pass gas among those sitting with you, if you do so out of bad habit, and are not driven by any natural necessity.
LX.
For whom is it fitting to sit with knees spread, or to stand with legs splayed and distorted? For boasters, who are arrogant and stupid from a false sense of confidence.
LXI.
How, therefore, should one stand or sit? For one sitting, let the knees come together; for one standing, let the feet, or certainly the legs, be parted only moderately.
