THE FIRST COMMANDMENT WITH THE PREFACE
of the former tablet.

| 3 Thou shalt have no alien gods before me. | CHAP. 6. v. 4 Hear Israel, Jehovah our God, Jehovah is one. |
| CHAP. 6. v. 12 Beware of thyself, lest thou forget Jehovah, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of servants. | |
| CHAP. 13. v. 14 But when thy son asks thee tomorrow, saying, What is this? then thou shalt say to him, In the strength of hand Jehovah brought us out of Misraim, out of the house of servants. | |
| 15 And it was, when Pharaoh hardened himself against letting us go, Jehovah killed every firstborn in the land of Misraim, from the firstborn of man to the firstborn of animal: therefore I sacrifice to Jehovah every opening of the womb of the masculine sex: but every firstborn of my sons I redeem. |

| 5 Thou shalt not bow down to them, nor worship them: for I Jehovah thy God, a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons, into the third and fourth generation of those who hate me. | CHAP. 26. v. 1 You shall not make for yourselves idols and a carved image, and you shall not raise up a statue for yourselves, nor shall you place a painted stone in your land to bow down to it: for I am Jehovah your God. | 13 And he announced to you his covenant which he commanded you to do, the ten words, and he wrote them on two stone tablets. |
| 6 And showing mercy to thousands who love me, and keep my commandments. | CHAP. 18. v. 20 And from your seed do not give (any) to be passed through to the idol Molech, nor pollute the name of thy God: I am Jehovah. | 14 Jehovah also commanded me at the same time that I should teach you statutes and judgments, so that you might do them in the land which you cross to possess it. |
