Levit. ch. 17, v. 1.
A decorative initial "L" begins the text. And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
2 Speak to Aaron and to his sons, and to all the sons of Israel, and say to them, this is the word which Jehovah has commanded, saying,
3 Whoever from the house of Israel slaughters an ox, or a lamb, or a goat in the camp, or who slaughters outside the camp:
4 And has not brought it to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer an oblation to Jehovah: the blood shall be imputed to that man: for he has shed blood, and that man shall be cut off from the midst of his people:
5 So that the sons of Israel may bring their sacrifices which they are about to slaughter on the surface of the field, so that they may bring them, I say, to Jehovah at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation to the priest, and sacrifice them as sacrifices of the peace offerings of Jehovah.
6 And the priest shall sprinkle the blood at the altar of Jehovah, at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall burn the fat for an odor of rest to Jehovah.
7 And they shall no longer sacrifice sacrifices to demons with whom they commit fornication: this shall be a perpetual statute for them throughout their generations.
8 You shall also say to them, whoever from the house of Israel, or of the strangers who sojourn among you, offers a burnt offering or a sacrifice:
9 And has not brought it to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation to perform it for Jehovah, then that man shall be cut off from his people.
Deut. ch. 12, v. 5.
But you shall seek the place which Jehovah your God shall choose from all your tribes, to place his name there, so that he may dwell himself, and you shall come there.
6 And you shall bring there your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and the oblation of your hand, and your vows, and your spontaneous offerings, and the firstborn of your oxen, and of your sheep.
7 And you shall eat there before Jehovah, your God, and you shall rejoice in every thing to which you have sent your hand, you and your houses, in which Jehovah your God has blessed you.
8 You shall not do according to all that we do here today, each man whatever is right in his own eyes.
9 For you have not yet come to the rest and the inheritance which Jehovah your God gives to you.
10 But you shall cross the Jordan, and you shall dwell in the land which Jehovah your God gives you to possess by hereditary right, and he will give you rest from all your enemies in the circuit, and you shall dwell confidently.
11 Then to that place which Jehovah your God shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, you shall bring all that I command you, your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices: your tithes, and the oblations of your hand, and all that is choice in your vows which you shall vow to Jehovah.
12 And you shall rejoice before Jehovah your God, you and your sons and your daughters, and your servants and your handmaids, and the Levites who shall be within your gates: because he has no portion and inheritance with you.
13 Beware for yourself, lest you offer your burnt offerings in every place which you see.
