Stucki, Johann Wilhelm · 1577

JOHANN WILHELM STUCKI
to LUDWIG LAVATER,
his countryman and honored friend.
To whom should I dedicate these writings of mine on the life of Simler, if not to you alone, Lavater?
For you always loved Simler like a brother:
And in you, he always had a brother.
You have also always embraced me with fatherly love.
And in you, I have always had a fatherly love.
Therefore, let these be the symbols of our mutual love,
Which I pray you to accept with a calm mind.
A circular stamp of the Zentralbibliothek Zürich is present, featuring a shield with a diagonal stripe.
