Nothing is more lovable to a distinguished man (as Cicero original: "Cicero" writes clearly) than virtue, nothing that more entices men to love: for when, on account of virtue and integrity, we love even those whom we have never seen in some way. I think there is no bond of love, by which men bind themselves to one another, closer, firmer, or older. Therefore, it also provokes me, most distinguished men, that I should love, respect, and admire you. For I see that you fix all your thoughts on the worship of Christian piety, the fruit of which is immortality: to adorn and defend the Church of Christ original: "Christi Ecclesiam", from whence true salvation and the happiness of eternal life emanates, and that you confer all your care and all your studies to it: you have already long fostered the true doctrine of God, which you young men of Wittenberg original: "Vvitenbergæ" received from Luther original: "Lutheri", who, along with others, restored its dignity to religion and true piety, and like Hercules original: "Herculis" taming monsters, supported by the help of the omnipotent God, he extirpated the monstrous pontifical heresies original: "pontificias hæreses", and not only do you profess it in words, but you also express it in life and character. A pious and honest way of living, indeed
