Frischlin, Nicodemus · 1577

Thus finally you will possess the peaceful sand of the earth,
And floral garlands will adorn your ship.
Aichmann has done the same, following the footsteps of his dear father-in-law,
And duly following the example of his grandfather.
He learned the good arts in his youthful years,
And prepared a thousand riches of the Italian original: "Ausonii" coast.
He is able to equal many eloquent men in language;
He is able to enclose words within their own rhythms.
Moreover, having undertaken to unroll the chronicles of the ancients,
He is able to recount the deeds of peoples and the deeds of leaders.
With these oars and sail, he began to propel the ship of law;
And with the divine spirit breathing upon him, he cropped his journey.
For, pious and having called upon the gods in prayers and vows,
He sustained that burden of the sea bravely.
Now, having measured the sea, he enters the harbor with full sail,
And with his own rowing he takes the prizes worthy of him.
Varnbylere, I congratulate you that a son-in-law, increased by so many gifts,
Has been born to the father Aichmann.
I also congratulate you, Martin, on this honor; and I hope
That the glory gained may last into long days.
And may it be for your praise, may it be for the salvation of your fatherland,
And may it yield to the glory of God, who gave these things.
