De dentium affectibus

it may seem, yet it perhaps contains some things that are μὴ παντελῶς ἄμυσα μηδὲ ἀπεσδιόνυσα not entirely unrefined nor uninspired by Dionysus. These points, as they are somewhat different from the opinions of others, so also have I endeavored, as much as in my power, to defend publicly against the objections of many, as is usually done in this kind of παρεργῷ side-work/excursion.

Whatever there is of this, I willingly submit the whole of it to Your most exact judgment, most excellent MAN. If I understand that my effort, such as it is, has not displeased You, I shall care nothing for what other unjust critics may decide. May the eternal GOD grant that, soon returning to my sweetest homeland (of which I send this ahead as a πρόδρομον forerunner), I may find You safe and sound and flourishing in all good things, and that it may be permitted to me to honor and revere You, being present, just as I have done while long absent. Be well, and prosper.
