This reason also followed, that the sources of these most miserable and indeed most fatal controversies of the Church of God are best known from this very book, and the bile that stirs those stings under Selneccer’s breast is understood, and finally, it is perceived whence so many tears have now been spread throughout not only Saxony but Germany itself, from this, I say, script which is prior by nature, that which was strongly dissembled in the Confutatio accusationum Refutation of accusations and in the hysteron proteron latter-first order. Therefore, led by these causes, I thought that this one should rather be taken into hand. I shall treat this so modestly and gently that Selneccer cannot justly complain of any injury dealt by me against him.
