There is no need for any speculation about the way in which it might be possible for the body and blood of Christ to be truly exhibited to those eating Bread and wine. For human reason always errs in the judgment of divine things, unless it subjects itself to the Word of God in obedience to Christ.

Where it is openly established regarding the will of Christ, we do not contend at all about the way in which it is fulfilled, and we need not be at all anxious about it. For whatever the Lord wished, he did. Therefore, at that point, human reason must submit its own banners entirely to the divine, nor should it obtrude that "How" of its own: but it should quietly, and even confidently, and with pasē plērophoria full assurance acquiesce in that revealed will of Christ. But these words, this is my body, this is my blood, in no way show that Christ wishes or says, I wish that my true essential and substantial body (in which I suffered for you and which I have raised above all these visible heavens) assist, be conjoined, and be placed in a bodily mode of presence With, Under, and in this Bread and wine, which are distributed to you in the Supper many times in the year. For here it would follow that pious and blessed believers who have died in his faith are also involved in and stationed In, under, and with the Bread of the Supper. For Christ said, Father, those whom you have given to me, I wish that where I am, they also may be with me. Likewise, speaking about the faithful departed, the Angel says in the Apocalypse
