YOU ask of me, most beloved brother, and you ask in such a way that, because of our friendship, I no longer dare to deny you, that I write down by what reason and by what method I believe Sacred Scripture can best be treated, both in lectures and in sermons. I, indeed, as I have often answered before, so now also reply: that the most holy and true method of explaining the divine Word seems to me to be the one that the Prophets, and later the Apostles—men taught ἀμέσως directly/immediately by the Spirit of God Himself—left to us.
