Argument.

The drop cap 'D' contains a human face.The Apostle Peter teaches what great benefits God confers upon the elect through the knowledge of the Gospel, and that this alone holds consent with the Prophetic doctrine, and for that reason, as it is most ancient and certain, it must be seriously preserved. From here he descends to morals and challenges all to the virtues of a reborn man, and not only in general, but he descends to particulars, such as what subjects owe to the magistrate, what servants to their masters, what a wife to her husband, what a husband to his wife, what a teacher to the flock, and what the flock to their teachers, and many similar things, which possess a true Christian moral philosophy.
